About

Coastal Flower Co

Hi I’m Victoria Roberts

My husband and I bought a 69 acre farm in 2021 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia about 1/10 of a mile from the Chesapeake Bay. While we instantly fell in love, we had no idea the magic surrounding the farm. From the folks we’ve met, to the farmer that farms our farm who said we had the most fertile soil.

He told us the story of his father who farmed it before him that it was nicknamed the “Garden by the Sea”. I named the farm Sweet Bay Farms after the 100 year old Sweet Bay Magnolias that grow along the dock in the back by the Creek. They are magnificent and we have planted more to keep the historical value of them going.

The farm’s cut flower business prides itself off of unique varieties of annuals, roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, and mums, along with spring and summer flowering bulbs. Coastal Flower Company was formed in 2023 with the intent of bringing beauty to your doorstep on the Eastern Shore.

As long as the weather is nice, you will constantly see me outside either digging in the dirt or playing with flowers.

My background in horticulture of 25 years has led me to this passion-filled life of spreading the joy of flowers and education to create more passionately inspired green individuals! I love to talk flowers, so be sure to say hi if you see us out and about. Be sure to check out our newsletter and subscribe to keep up to date with the growing season and providing beautiful flowers at your doorstep!

Questions about the Farm

Where are you located?

We are located on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay In Virginia. Our farm is located less than a 1/10 of a mile from the water.  Because of this we have a beautiful surrounding area as well as a microclimate for growing.

The farm is a private location which also includes our family home, and we do not allow visitors nor publish our address. If you have placed an order, don’t worry! You will select the location ahead of time during the check out process, and via email along with your details.
If you have questions, drop us an email.

Where do you sell your flowers?

Online – We sell our flowers Online for pre-order while in season (April-November) orders placed online will be delivered Thursday and Friday to a designated location. The cutoff for orders is Tuesday night at 8 p.m. Please try to make sure you are available for your pick up, we cut these flowers especially for you so if you are not available…please… send a friend to enjoy them!!

When does my order get delivered?

We always put information on delivery dates on the product pages where you purchased. Items ordered by Tuesday at 8 p.m. will be available the same week on Thursday or Friday for pickup at the designated locations. We are seasonal growers, which means that products will be picked especially for you seasonally, and you can double check the product page for information on timing of your delivery or pickup.

If I change my mind can I get a refund?

Because we deal in perishable products, we do NOT offer refunds on orders placed. Once you place an order, we hold part of our inventory for you. Whether it’s cut flowers, or plant material, we are saving that for you from our own farm inventory. Please understand if we cannot accommodate you. If you are able, perhaps a friend would enjoy your purchase!

What will my bouquets look like?

Our bouquets will be filled with wonderful colors and varieties and responsibly grown without chemicals. Each bouquet is handmade, so no two are the exact same, and freshly picked from what is blooming in our fields, bursting with color, hand-tied and ready to be cut & dropped into the vase or container of your choice once back at home. We offer spring blooming (April), peony bunches (May), and Summer Garden Bunches (June through October) and dahlia and mum blooms (September October November) currently on an annual basis.

How do I get my flowers?

COMING SOON!  This year we are offering 2 pickup locations on the Eastern Shore for pickup. Your very first stop on our store site, you select your pickup spot, and when the time comes, we will send the flowers there for you to pickup. Your email will indicate when a share starts, so please be sure you are getting our emails. If purchasing for a gift, we usually start our flower sales in April/May, weather dependent. This year in particular, our online store will open in June.
Check SPAM if you are not receiving your emails.

Can I switch my pickup location/time?

COMING SOON!  Due to the perishable nature of blooms, we are unable to accommodate special requests including weekly changes to the pickup time or location. It is a very manual process and can lead to mistakes, which we are not a fan of. Please be sure you have flexibility when you purchase the share or if you cannot get a bouquet on a day, have a friend pickup for you. We hate seeing the flowers go to waste!

How do I make my fresh flowers last?

For the longest vase life, keep them out of direct sun, give them a fresh cut before putting them in to clean water with the floral packet provided for you.
