Selecting Eye-Catching Color Palettes

How do you choose your floral colors around your home and at your front entryway?  You can transform your outdoor space into a harmonious extension of your home’s architecture, color and setting!  If you’re looking for a guide, keep in mind the following tips.

Start by considering your home’s exterior color & style and choose to either complement or thoughtfully contrast it, depending on the look you hope to achieve.

A monochromatic look adds a hint of sophistication, depth and interest without overwhelming the senses.

Contrasting colors can really add a punch to curb appeal.  (If your home is going on the market this year, add to buyer’s interest with a great first impression).

Referencing the color wheel can be helpful for beginning and seasoned gardeners alike.

Flower choices at the front door can be formal, or more casual and welcoming.  For instance, the use of petunias that trail can help your entryway feel friendly.

Consider texture, shape and color of leaves as well. A mix of the bold and delicate can achieve stunning results.

When in doubt, take a walk!  Position pots near your front door before planting, then take several steps into your front yard or walk near the road to check color, sizes, combinations and arrangements.

Pantone announced their color of the year is Peach Fuzz! (Pantone 13-1023)

Pantone suggests it conveys radiant warmth and modern elegance.  Some goodies that are often available in peach are Vinca, Verbena, Guem, and Agastache.
